Novels for Young Men

G.A. Henty Novels have been a wonderful addition to our family's library.

Our oldest boy has been reading these novels for the last couple of years and gives them rave reviews. They are appropriate for all young people ~ not just boys.

One thing I really like about this author's work is his attention to historical detail ~ Austin has learned many historical facts without "studying". Henty also portrays accurately the consequences to actions whether good or bad ~ the main characters generally make good choices.

Overall, the reading experience is simultaneously educational, interesting, and challenging. Recommended for those who are seeking an advanced reading experience. Don't let the cost deter you ~ I believe many libraries have copies for loan. If your local library doesn't have them available, you might request they purchase some for their shelves.

**I do not receive compensation for any of my opinions ~ they are just that...opinions! :)

We were able to find a couple of his books at a local used book store - orginals for only $1 each!
My son struggles a bit with reading, but I know that someday he will be able to enjoy them!

Blessings!

Oh Nadine! What a FIND!! I would have bought them all and spent ages in that store hunting for more. It really is a great read for the older boy...I think 14 or 15 is just perfect. No worries about your son ~ it will all come in time. And then, look out...he will be devouring them all! :)

Blessings,
Camille

My son received 3 of these books a couple of years ago for Christmas. He had a hard time getting into them, but I think now that he is 13 he will be able to enjoy them more. I think I am going to read the first few chapters out loud to him to get him started.

Hi Jenn ~

Oh yes, it takes a bit to get into them...they are not for the faint hearted, but according to my nearly 15 year old son, they are good stories. Definitely helps if you enjoy history...which he does! :) Be patient ~ I don't think our nearly 13 year old is ready yet...maybe next year.

How lovely that he was given them as a gift...that's a blessing!

Have a great evening!

Oh yes, and I am planning another "boys" novels post for the not too distant future. They would be for the younger ones...maybe 12 or so. I hope your boy enjoys them when he gets there. AND before you know it he will be! :)

Blessings,
Camille
