You Might be Mothering Teenage Boys if...

Your *big* cooking pot (8Qt) from your newlywed days
is only just the right size to reheat food
or make lunch in.

You have invested in *industrial* sized
cooking equipment so you *might* have leftovers.

You routinely multiply recipes
four or five times.

Your life seems to revolve around food!

You buy three 5 pound blocks of
cheese and hope they last the month.

Your fridge has over T.H.I.R.T.E.E.N. dozen eggs in it...
and you do not have any chickens in the back yard!

The Costco cashiers think you are buying
for a store.

You dedicate a laundry hamper to socks ONLY!

You fill your washing machine with socks
because you refuse to wash them with anything else.
S.T.E.R.I.L.I.Z.E. is the setting of choice.

Wrestling matches routinely take
place in the living room and kitchen...
with Dad! :)

A.N.D.

You are taken care of.
You are watched out for.
You are loved and cherished.
You have the opportunity to
be used to shape boys into men...
with God's equipping.

What an incredible gift to be mothering
this next generation of men!

May God give grace and patience day by day.
HE alone is able!

If any of you, dear friends,
are in this same boat ~
Be encouraged...it is a noble calling.
The LORD will give all that
is needed as we seek HIM for the wisdom
to do the task well ~

For HIS glory!

What a blessing that HE never
leaves us to ourselves.
What a blessing that HE is
Faithful even when we are not!
Let's keep our eyes fixed on HIM.

Many blessings,
Camille

Dear Jennifer ~ I had NO IDEA either...long ago! But, how wonderful it is that the LORD provides! :)

Dear Chelle ~ Industrial-sized cooking equipment is surely in your future! :)

Dear Sharon ~ Oh I think it would be very wise to raise chickens, but we are within city limits, so it won't happen here. :)

Dear Patty ~ I didn't know you have three sons...just like us! :) Yes, indeed...the LORD does give the grace, what a blessing!

Dear Heather ~ It really is quite the thought, don't you think? What a blessing that the LORD promises never to leave us...HE is so Good to us, isn't HE? :)

Many blessings to you each one!

Camille I only have one son but I know what you mean about food. When I come home from the grocery store Matt loves unpacking all the FOOD. And then he will say I love you mum if there are special foods he loves. So true that the way to a man is through his tummy:) Blessings Pippa

We are up to four gallons of milk a week, and 4 lbs of butter. Cheese is 5 lbs every other week!

Dear Jill ~ Yes, boys do consume different amounts of food, that's for sure! The chickens?? I have thought of it. LOL! :)

Dear Pippa ~ How sweet! Yes, I do believe that you are right...it is the way to their hearts! :)

Dear Cinnamon ~ That's a good one too my friend...it definitely should make the list! :)

Dear Stacie ~ Just you wait my friend...just you wait!!! :) But, be comforted...the LORD will provide! What a blessing that HE does.

Big families rock! I've had just a taste of what it is like to run a household with 8 kids in it when I was helping Stacie out after her surgery. We were getting meals brought to us and I remember telling her you do everything I'm do and cook too? Don't know how you do it, but by the grace of God it all happens. Loved this post! It IS a privilege to be a mom raising the next generation of kids!

We have 3 boys, ages 10, 11 and 13 (almost 12 and 14) and one girl age 8 and some days, she eats as much as her brothers! Yes, they constantly eat. Dh cannot believe how much they eat the days he is off and at home. Sometimes I get caught up cooking really healthy because I feel I need to shed a few pounds but then I remember I should be fixing the foods they enjoy because it does mean so much to them. I can lose those few pounds when they are grown and gone :)

This post sure brought a smile to my face Camille. The most used statement in my house by my boys is 'Is there anything to eat?' and I'm surprised they don't have frost on their eyebrows - they spend so long staring into the fridge scanning the shelves for food. The next stop is the breakfast food shelf in the pantry and my 11 year old holds the record for most number of weetbix (wholewheat breakfast bars) consumed in one sitting - 17 - he wanted to beat his older brother's record of 13. I can't even manage two so have no idea how my boys packed all this food away. For the record, this was a one off and I attributed it to growth spurts and the competitive nature of boys - they usually only have 4 or 5 biscuits or a huge bowl of porridge for breakfast. I have a vain hope that the oats with their low GI will keep them full until at least late morning but by 10 o'clock they are once again queuing up at the fridge or peering through the oven door. Baking disappears first, followed by bananas, apples and carrots - yes, carrots and whole carrots, not carrot sticks! My boys are quite prepared to munch on carrots because they know they will not find potato chips in any cupboard and the veggie crisper is now their first point of call.
I have upsized my oven, fridge, casseroles, pots and because I don't want to upsize my boy's waistlines I'm upsizing the veggie garden - just have to remember to grow more carrots!

Dear Jackie ~ What a blessing you are to your sister!! I know that would have helped her out soooo much having you there at that time! :)

Dear Rashel ~ Your family is almost identical to mine for ages and in the *boy to girl* ratio...you are just a little behind us as it pertains to their ages. How fun! :)

Dear Ann ~ I had to chuckle reading about your boys and their contests! At least it was good food they were consuming in such HUGE quantities!! LOL! Yaay for boys who search the veggie drawer to satisfy their hunger pangs. I enjoy reading the words you use...some of the sayings are different from ours...how fun! :)

Many blessings,
Camille

Hi!!! So I just had to check in on you...and of course your sweet post tempts me to stay up late and catch up on what I've missed over the last many weeks! Oh this is so sweet Camille.

I have to share...today I said to Sam, "I sure wish you would stop biting your fingernails." To which he replied, "I sure wish you would be my sweetheart." Oh my heart! That little boy! Cannot imagine him as a teenager...and thankful I've got someone like you to show me the ropes.

I've missed you!
Love,
Tami

Dear Jenn ~ I *know* you can relate...exactly! :)

Dear Tami ~ It's lovely to hear from you my friend! I've missed you too. But, I do understand...I really do! How precious that little man of yours is...I sure do hope you write all those little sayings down somewhere. At this moment it is easy to believe you will never forget, but, sad to say, it happens. Maybe another little journal (like the thankfulness one) to record them in...oh how wonderful THAT would be to look back on. :)

Love to you both!
Camille

I'm behind in my reading, but this post brought a big smile to my face. My three boys (almost 7, almost 5 and 3) eat so much already. I just giggled as I pictured what my fridge would look like in another 7 years or so... :)

Dear Heather ~ LOL...just you wait!! I have a feeling I *know* what your future holds in the food department (at least 9 or 10 years into the future, anyway)...get ready! But, what a blessing that the LORD provides...HE really does! :)

Many blessings,
Camille
