Going Digital

I've been living in the dark ages.
Technology and I have often been at odds.
The *old* ways are often the most comfortable.

And, so it is.

I got the biggest calendar I could get my hands on.
With the biggest squares.  It lived in my drawer.
It's how it's been for years.  Until recently.

I couldn't take it any more.

Too many things got moved, cancelled, rescheduled ~ a mess ensued.
In case you don't already know this about me ~
I like things to be orderly and neat.  Even my calendar.
And, it was anything but!  It was time for a change.

Welcome to my life Google Calendar!
I think I'm gonna *love* you!  :)

I think I can breathe.
Finally, I am up to date ~ at least in this area.
How about you?  Paper or digital?
Do tell.  Inquiring minds want to know.  :)

Blessings to you!
Camille

Oh, I'm still paper, my friend. Pretty paper. My Beloved often wishes I'd sync with his Google calendar. I just can't seem to process it well when I can't put my hands on it. Love and miss you and hold you close in my thoughts and prayers!!

I can't decide which one to use! I go back and forth between iCal on my Mac and my pretty pink Dayplanner. Have fun going digital! :)

Well, I have a small 2 yr calendar on my desk. Downsized from the bigger calendar/day timer I used to have. It's still there with some things I need in it. Digital calendar...need to check on that. I also can put digital sticky notes on my laptop desktop. I still like to write out stuff. I know what you mean about messy calendars. Or my husband will have a dr. appt and have a note in his office but doesn't write it on our calendar out in dining room so I can remind him...sigh!

Oh your calendar is funny! A funny mess :-)

I LOVE my ME = Mary Engelbreit calendar. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I write everything down on it. Plus I have a date book, that goes with me if need be, and I write everything down in it. Then each year I keep them. I just can't bear to throw them out as they have such lovely pictures in it.

Your Google calendar does look nice. Just think...no more mess:-)

Camille, I feel your "pain!" LOL! I, like you, want things neat and orderly. For many years I maintained an elaborate "Daytimer" organizer, carrying it *everywhere* with me. Almost 2 years ago I began experimenting with GoogleCalendar, and quickly fell in love! I have separate calendars for so many things~ family events, gardening, home maintenance, scheduling blog posts (when I was blogging more actively), birthdays/anniversaries, animal care, menu planning, and even scheduling my bills there! I can "turn on" or "turn off" any calendar that I don't want to see at any time and I can access them on my iPhone or iPad if I am not at home near my computer... so much easier to take with me than my Daytimer! Have fun experimenting with your new calendar!

I'm a paper gal, but I always use pencil so I can erase when things change. I've tried several times to use a large dry erase board, but I just haven't followed through. If I ever get an Ipad I just might have to switch over though. I'm so glad you found something that works for you! Happy New Year to you and your precious family :)

Dear Trisha ~ Ah, yes...I understand you my friend! You know I do!! However, my sanity was as stake...I didn't write carefully in my calendar with pencil...I used pen!! It was disastrous! I am very, very pleased I chose this path. Enjoy your pretty paper...they will be treasures to keep forever. :)

Dear Lisa ~ Too funny...a foot in both worlds! Perhaps you will never have to choose if working both systems works for you...enjoy it! :)

Dear Becky ~ I hear you on writing stuff down...I still make myself lists with real pen and paper. :)

Dear Cinnamon ~ Those calendars of yours will be treasures for what is written in them...such memories they will hold for your precious family! They will each want one to keep for their very own. I like ME too. :)

Dear Susan ~ WOW!! You've got me beat my friend!! SO many calendars for SO many things! Good for you. I didn't think of separating the calendars out into categories...I'll have to consider doing the same. We'll see. :)

Dear Jackie ~ Hmmmm...you really are the clever one! Why, oh why, did I not think of pencil??? Really, it's a crazy thing, but, it never crossed my mind. Well...it's too late...I'm committed to this *new* way now. LOL! Happy New Year to you too! :)

Dear Maryann ~ I am sure you will *love* going digital. You know what feature I'm really enjoying?? Being able to tell it to *repeat* the event indefinitely for things such as Birthdays and yearly things to remember...it's wonderful! :)

Many Blessings,
Camille

I'm still a paper calender person. I usually pick one up in the dollar bin that is big enough to fit our life on for now, but small enough to still slide into the big pocket on my diaper bag! :)

I do sort of like the neat and tidy aspect of using google calender.

Dear Heather ~ Yes, I hear you on the *for now* part...I was *SO* completely a paper calendar Mum for such a long time!! It's only just recently that it has become a necessary thing to have more space than one of the paper calendars could provide. Enjoy each stage! :)

Blessings to you!

Sorry I seem to be commenting so much, but you are a lady who speaks my language! DayRunner for me, until this year I converted to a pocket calendar with a month view. A digital calendar would NOT work, because I'd have to have access to a digital device, which I never carry with me. My phone only makes calls and has a number pad for texts. I never use the calendar in it because it's too cumbersome. Plus, I'd have to whip out my reading glasses to see the screen! I'm glad to see you are letting technology work for you. By the way, I LOOOVE your messy calendar. It's a reminder of how busy you are!

Dear Lois ~ I've enjoyed reading each of your comments...thank you for taking the time to leave them!! I feel I get to know you a little better each time you visit...still sorry I cannot *see* you at *your* place, however...perhaps one day? :) As for the calendar...thank you for your encouragement...I just could not take the mess any more! LOL!

Blessings to you!

Oh my goodness still paper. A big desk calendar on the desk for hubby (with only some of my things written down) and a weekly minder for me in my purse. I started with the weekly minder when my oldest was in preschool (10 years ago sniff) and I had to take him 2 days a week along with taking my dad to dr appts. Love reading your blog.

Welcome Leanna! It's lovely to *meet* you! Thank you for leaving a comment letting me know you were here. Ah...yes, I can relate to the growing children...why does it go by so quickly?? Don't you just want to freeze time for a little while?? :)

Blessings to you!
