Random Recipe Solution

If you're anything like me, you have recipes gathered from a variety of sources.
Hand-written recipes jotted down on the fly from online browsing sessions,
recipes torn out of food magazines, and some printed off from favourite sources,
all make up my stash of foods-to-someday-try.

I don't transfer a recipe to my tried-and-true recipe box collection
until I know that it's a keeper.

On one of my recent trips to see my sister, she pulled out her recipe binder.
It had recipes within its covers neatly organized into categories
and three-hole-punched and filed away.  All in one place.  Brilliant!

And, then, in recent days, I was visiting Katy's blog and saw this post which
included her wonderful idea for laminated dividers.
A few weeks passed, and after a little percolating in my brain,
these two ideas merged into one.  A collision of sorts.

This is what has come of that.

I got out my scrapbook papers, paper cutter, and three hole punch, and went to town.
All my loose recipe papers were gathered and categorized.
I cut the scrapbook papers to 9" x 11" and made tabs by cutting the paper to 8.5"
up to the place where the tab would be cut out.

Prior to laminating, the tabs were labelled and three-hole punched.
After laminating, the edges were trimmed, and a single hole punch was used
to remove the plastic that filled up those holes.

There you have it.  A simple (and pretty) solution for those random
recipes collected while browsing online (or elsewhere) for inspiration and ideas.

How do you deal with all your recipes?
Is your system like this one, or, do you have a different method?
Please tell all.  Inquiring minds want to know.

Happy Friday!
With Love, Camille

I just love this Camille. I always enjoy your organizing ideas; they always boost my desire to get organized. I will definitely have to do this; and you make it look fairly easy. I have a couple of binders that I filled with plastic sheet protectors ( got a big box from Sam's Club). I put almost all of my loose recipes and magazines pages or clippings in it. I do love it; although it is not categorized like yours, and would love to have it like that. I wish that I had started my Pinterest boards with the recipes/food in categories like this…. I didn't realize when I started doing Pinterest that I would have a need for my food to be categorized in more than two places. Have a great weekend Camille.
Blessings,
Pam

I have a tattered and torn notebook that looks so bad I want to make a pretty one. I LOVE your idea. My notebook contains most of our most loved recipes. If I ever find some time maybe I will attempt a pretty one like yours. :)

It looks great Camille! I am so terrible with recipes. I have them on recipe cards, on paper, on my computer....I have tried to organize them so many times...but oh dear, it's just crazy! haha!!! :) Your binder looks fabulous! :)

I have a large binder with sheet protectors so I can slide the recipes in and out. I am slowly weeding out the ones I have decided that I just will not try and there are a few that I love.

I have a similar notebook with recipes collected from the internet. I also have a smaller recipe binder that was a wedding gift so long ago. ;) When a recipe is tried & true, I usually end up transferring it into that notebook.
When Sarah received some recipe cards for a wedding shower gift, she sat down with my recipe book and copied all her favorite recipes! :)

Oh Camille, what a great idea. I just pulled some recipes from older magazines I'm purging. Right now they're in a file folder on shelf with cookbooks. When I have time I will figure out what to cook. There's a stack already in a binder clip within the folder that needs sorted and clip is used to keep pages from scattering when folder is opened. Folder has two rubber bands holding it shut! Organized in a way instead of just papers crammed in the spot. I often thought of buying a lamintor but never did when the price was right. Sigh!

Wow, looks amazing Camille!! I'm terrible with organizing my recipes. Right now I have a whole drawer full of loose ones that are scattered in every direction. Not sure how it got so bad, but now that we've just moved in it's even worse. I think this is exactly the post I needed! Thanks for inspiring me to finally tackle this project :)

Pam ~ I am encouraged that you are encouraged my friend. Thank you, as always, for your kind words. Isn't it interesting how when we begin something it needs adjusting as we get further into it? I have found that to be the the case over and over again. :)

Nikki ~ I am sure you will do a lovely job of it my friend. Hugs to you. :)

Katy ~ Thank you for the inspiration for the dividers...I'd never thought of using scrapbook papers for them before! Hugs to you. :)

Leanna ~ It feels so good to get organized and purge, doesn't it? Happy organizing! Hugs. :)

Nadine ~ How fun that your Sarah copied out her favourites from your collection...love that! What a sweet compliment to you that is! Hugs to you. :)

Becky ~ The clipped together recipes and too many papers to manage sounds just like the state mine were in prior to this project. I am sure you will get it all nicely sorted out. Purging feels SO good, doesn't it? Hugs. :)

Laura ~ If it can all fit into one binder, I would happily do it for you. You provide the binder and it's done. Could we call it an early birthday gift? Love you, too! XO

Lisa ~ One thing at a time, my friend. Hang in there....it will all come together!! It might be a fun thing to do together with your girl. Hugs to you all. :)

With love,
Camille

My 3 daughters and I use PepperPlate .. that way we can pass along recipes easily. It took a bit of work initially .. but we love it.
