Literally Thousands!

My Sweetie took our Emma on a short business trip.
They were gone two whole days with one night in between.
And, the computer (which is soon to become Emma's) was all mine.
So, I did what any normal Mama would do ~ I sorted photos.

That's what you would have done, right?

Back in the day, when our littles were little,
I captured life with a film SLR gifted to me by my Dad.
All the photos were printed and sorted and labelled and
immediately filed into albums.  In order.  Always.

But, then.  Then!

2005 arrived, and we entered the world of digital images.
Oh. Dear. Me!!  My life has not been the same since.
Take as many photos as you like?  Yes, please.
Save them all to print off later?  Sign me up.

But, later never seemed to come.

Fast forward to 2016, and there are literally thousands
of images languishing on my computer that beg to be properly sorted
and printed off.  Others should be deleted and forgotten forever.
That, however, is difficult to do, isn't it?  Someone might want them.

Maybe.  One day.  I seriously doubt it.

It's a long, arduous task which won't go away on its own.
It must be done.  And, I must do it.  So, I'm off to the races once again.
Only now?  Emma and her Daddy are home.  :)

Are any of you in the same boat?
It would be encouraging to know that I'm not alone.

Happy Thursday!
With Love, Camille

Love these precious photos Camille! I take thousands of photos. Have you ever heard of Lyve? It's a wonderful picture backup with TB's and you can see the photos you saved like a digital frame but it stands on your desk. It will sync with your computer and phone automatically guaranteeing your pictures are safe. You can delete, rename etc. I love it! Pictures are so precious... although I do need more time for organizing them by events and so forth. And then I need to get back to scrapbooking too :-) Have a wonderful weekend! If you get a chance pop over and see our latest news.

Blessings,
Jill

You are not alone. I am working on putting my images into Shutterfly books for myself. I save those images onto a file and load them onto a SD card or some device for another time. Photos are important to remember the days gone by. Right now I'm working on the last of 2011! Yes that's correct...on my computer. I think it's wise to go through the photos after they get loaded and take off duplicates and ones that aren't great so there's more space for more. My husband gave me a SD card holder, that keeps up to 10 cards so that will help me alot. Take care and keep sorting or it'll never get done. I know the feeling! One bite at a time! LOL!

Sandi ~ Isn't it crazy how they seem to accumulate without any effort at all?! :)

Patty ~ I am determined to mend my ways and stay on top of it all after this! :)

Esther ~ Precious memories, indeed! You have so many memories to treasure up as well...we are so happy for you! :)

Leah K. ~ Ahh....I feel so much better now! :)

Jill ~ Thank you for telling me about your picture storage solution...it sounds wonderful! I will have to check it out. And...yippeee!!! It sounds like this move will be a blessing for you all. :)

Becky ~ It sounds like you have a great system in place to deal with all your images. I am working on picture books as well....it's such a HUGE job! :)

Camille

Completely in the same boat! I know someone who had all their photos on their hard drive and it crashed. They lost everything! It is one reason I blog and FB. That way in case something happens, at least I'll have some record of my favorite photos. But I do try to print out the kids' birthdays, Easter, family photos. Just a few of my favorites to scrapbook the old fashioned way. My kids would rather go through a scrapbook than scroll through photos without labels.

You are not alone, I have thousands in digital form that must be sorted. so many should never have been kept in the first place! I have some on CD that need to be looked through as well (plus a rubbermaid container full of "snaps" that need to be put in albums) I have begun scanning some old photos and all the photos on my blog get printed into a book. We have been going through my mother in laws photos and have found the photos that have captions or we know the stories behind have the most meaning, which has been a good lesson for me as I tackle my own photos. It's hard to delete when memories are involved. Blessings to you

Its funny Camille, I have been doing and thinking the same thing the last couple of months. I got a quite a few boxes of pictures from Steve's Mom. As I have gone through them I realized that so many were pictures that we had given her; pictures we had made into doubles when we had them developed., and many more that she had taken when she was right next to me, taking them from her perspective, they gave a greater scope of the moment when they were taken. How could 36 plus years have disappeared so quickly. Then as you say digital film came along, and I succumbed with the exact thoughts you expressed. My daughters and I were just talking about how when we get the chance (in the near future) we are going to develop pictures from the last ten years, and get them put in albums and frames... I long to do it. One of the things I have noticed in this change of picture taking and keeping, is that we are able to capture pictures better, and can really see what is what, because we don't have the cost and the waiting for development, and we can also edit them, which is something we couldn't do before.... but it really is intriguing to me that so much has changed in the last ten years, and in many ways it makes me a little sad. Have a lovely week Camille, and I hope you are able to get that picture sorting done.
Hugs,
Pam

Jackie ~ Oh, how horrible for your friend!!! I like your idea of staying on top of the printing off and labelling of photos....like the *good old days*. :) Hugs to you.

Maryann ~ There seems to be a theme developing here with regard to labelling the photos we print. I think you are right, they are more meaningful that way. It's good to know I am not alone on this journey. Hugs! :)

Pam ~ Yes, editing and sorting before printing is a good plan....but, the printing....when will it happen?! Let's cheer each other on!! Hugs to you. :)

Camille
