A Sovereign Protector I have,
Unseen, yet forever at hand,
Unchangeably faithful to save,
Almighty to rule and command.
He smiles and my comforts abound;
His grace as the dew shall descend,
And walls of Salvation surround
The souls He delights to defend.
Inspirer and hearer of prayer,
Thou Shepherd and Guardian of Thine,
My all to thy covenant care,
I sleeping and waking resign.
If Thou art my shield and my Sun,
The night is no darkness to me;
And, fast as the moments roll on,
They bring me but nearer to Thee.

This is a beautiful poem. It is so like our awesome God to love his children. I've been reading the prophets in the Old Testament. What words and many times that God told the Israelites to come back to his ways but they didn't and so they were punished, but there was a remnant that was saved to keep his nation alive. It's so for us as well. Read his word and know what we are to do. Then we will live in him. It's not a perfect life. There is suffering and pain but joy and happiness as well. We will be called faithful in the end. Ok, that's all I have to say about that.....my little commentary there! :0) Hugs and have a great day!
Hi Camille...oh,it feels good to be back to reading blogs again. I was really busy last week with work...I really love this poem. It made me feel really good. This is random, but it also made me think of a very old poem/song "Be Though My Vision"...one of my favorites...and I wo nder if the person who wrote that all those centuries ago, knew that it would be a blessing to Christians today...at least for me :) :) Have a lovely weekened, Camille. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
How God leads and protects His children through the ages. I want to live my life well for Him. How grateful I am for His sovereignty.
Hi Camille. Thanks for the sweet comments on my blog and thanks for asking about my boy.. He is doing much better 2 weeks before he gets his cast off.. but is healing well..
Hope all is going well at your home front as well..
Have a blessed Sunday..
Talk to ya soon
Dear Becky ~ I enjoyed your "commentary"...may the LORD use it for HIS glory! Yes, a remnant...HE always has a remnant...so encouraging to ponder! :)
Dear Heather's Blog ~ I don't think they probably thought there would be centuries of Christians after them...but they were faithful to the same NEVER CHANGING Great God!! I *love* how many of the old hymns are TIMELESS and so applicable to us today. Wonderful, isn't it? :)
Dear Patty ~ Oh HIS Sovereignty is one of the GREAT doctrines of the faith...how PRECIOUS to really let it sink into our souls! :)
Dear Karen ~ *SO* glad to hear your boy is recovering well! May the LORD bless you this LORD's Day as well! :)
Blessings to you all!
In His Love,
Camille
