Come Along to Stanley Park!

Over the Christmas break we had the opportunity to
venture into the city.
Daddy took the day off from work.
And off we went!

We live in the suburbs.
Vancouver is an hour's drive away.

Much to the delight of our Calvin,
we pass by the airport on our way into the city.
One of the planes that Uncle Morgan flies was spotted overhead!
B.O.N.U.S.

Over the Oak Street Bridge to the city beyond.
What a gloriously beautiful day it was!

Stanley Park Seawall was our destination.
We usually begin this walk
(when we do it, which is quite rare)
by the marina.

The four children and Howie beside me in the shadows. :)

View of the city's skyline from Stanley Park ~
pretty, isn't it?

City across the water.

View of the mountains from the seawall.

The Lion's Gate Bridge.

Vancouver is a major port ~
Many, many large container ships sail in and out of our Harbour.

Me with my Sweetie ~

Our four blessings.

This walk is about 5.5 Miles long.
It was such a pretty day for a walk ~
it felt soooo good to get out!

We went to White Spot for dinner ~
A treat!
And then we ended the evening with a little
skate at Robson Square outdoor rink.
I must let you in on a little secret ~
outdoor rinks are rare here in Vancouver...
this was a lot of fun for the children!
It was much more crowded than the seawall was. :)
FYI ~ That's Calvin in the centre of the shot.

Continuing to number the endless gifts ~
The endless blessings that come
from the loving hand of our Heavenly Father.

1070. *Free* family outings (not including gas, parking or dinner) ~
I did bring a pack lunch though! :)

1071. The city is close enough to enjoy and far enough away to avoid!

1072. Rare (for us) excursion into the city to enjoy the
Stanley Park Seawall ~ a 5.5 mile walk...lovely! :)

1073. Dinner out...a treat!

1074. Pink glow on the mountains in the morning

1075. Sun in winter

1076. Ripe bananas to bake with

1077. A pack lunch

1078. Hot cocoa (from the thermos) after skating

1079. Skating outdoors...all of us ~ a rare treat!

1080. Sun streaming in through the window after many grey days

1081. A rainbow on the cupboard door ~
a brief, *chance* moment enjoyed with Emma

1082. Fever to kill bugs

1083. Fever that broke in the night

1084. A message from Auntie Mary on the answering machine ~
her voice is so sweet!

1085. Old stand-by recipes

1086. Green grass in winter

1087. Quiet evenings at home

1088. A quiet street on New Year's Eve...
no big parties ~ What a blessing!

1089. Crisp, clear winter days

1090. Radio Theatre to listen to on long drives

Your visit sounds fun. We don't go to our city very much either. We live in a little country town. So we live away from the city too. Your pictures are pretty. I love to go skating outside. They don't have a place around us anymore. we went skating on a pond once, but it made me nervious. I was afraid it wasn't frozen enough.

Oh, that looks like fun. One of these days I'll make it to Canada. It's definitely on my list of places to visit. Now, that lonely little tree on top of that haystack rock, that was beautiful. Oh, and question, where you able to see the States from where you were at? :) :) :) Maybe not...but I figure since Vancouver, B.C. and Vancouver, Washington aren't too far apart...maybe? :) :) Glad you had a great time!!! Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

What a lovely post, Camille. I'm so glad your family had the opportunity for this outing. ALL of the scenery you showed was absolutely beautiful...the sky so blue...beautiful handiwork of our dear Father! The smiles on your faces show how much you enjoy each other!

And your list is precious...#1081 being my favorite!

I've left a little surprise for you over at the blog.

Dear Chelle ~ Oh how fun to skate outdoors! But, I agree with you...skating on a pond can be a bit nervewracking!!

Dear Heather in Oregon ~ No, you cannot see the USA from Vancouver City, but, we DO see it from our little local beach. I cross the line all the time to get gasoline, and dairy...much cheaper. Do let me know if you ever make it up here Heather...we could do *tea*. :)

Dear Nadine ~ Thank you! And, it sounds like you are due for a visit...when will you come?? :)

Dear Dianna ~ Thank you for your sweet encouragement! And, that WAS a surprise! Thank you so much my friend! :)

Dear Connie ~ We should try and meet up sometime. :)

Many blessings,
Camille

Dear Jenn ~ LOL!! Too funny that you remembered that! It was *cold* that night...too cold for shorts and it was outside. Brrrr....thankfully we had the hot cocoa waiting at the car. :) Thank you for your sweet comments (as always)...I am thankful for you!

Dear Cinnamon ~ It was such a precious day together! Howie had been working very hard and didn't have too much time to *play*...I agree, family outings are very special! Thank you for being a faithful friend...I appreciate you. :)

With Love,

Dear Jenn ~ Oh it was such a pretty day! Our weather is often grey and drizzly this time of year, so it was a real treat. Thank you for always being such a sweet encouragement. :)

Dear Michelle ~ Oh the LORD is so good to us, isn't HE? Thank you for stopping by! It's lovely to hear from you. :)

Many blessings,
