We cannot, as a wife, expect our husband
to be what he was never called to be.
Our EVERYTHING.
Only God in Heaven can fill that void.
That need can only be met by HIM.
It isn't fair to put that kind of pressure on our husband.
He was never meant to live up to that standard.
We are not called to be his everything either.
But ~ we can be something.
Someone who walks faithfully alongside.
Someone who is there ~ for richer or for poorer,
For better or for worse, In sickness and in health ~ until death.
How?
Only by the grace of God.
HE is the ONE Who keeps ~ the ONE Who sustains.
We both belong to HIM. Our all is found in HIM.
HE is our EVERYTHING.
May we live in light of this and follow Him all our days.
All of this is only possible in His strength and with His enabling.
We cannot possible do any of it on our own merits.
How wonderful to be able to look to Him each step of the way.
Seeking to follow Him wherever He leads.
For His glory and by His grace.
Many Blessings, Camille

Very well said. This goes along great with Ann Voskamp's post I just read. Why is it that I can NEVER...and I mean NEVER finish reading one of her post without sobbing?
All I can think about is how I expect my husband can be my everything and constantly forget my own failures and weaknesses?
Amen. I should have this tattooed to the inside of my eyelids!
Camille~
AMEN!!
I try to get this through to all young girls in love. WHy is it that it takes a little age to understand this?
You have a great day~wonderful post!
Carrie~
Beautiful post Camille.
Blessings,
Jill
I love this, Camille! "I can't be everything, but I can be something."
Yes. That's true. (Wish you had a 'like' button!)
Waving and smiling at my far-away friend,
Rhonda
Camille, thank you for posting about such a vital truth! If only I'd realized that in the early years of our marriage, we could have avoided so many struggles. Such wonderful advice for those who are preparing for marriage, as well. Bless you, my sweet friend, as you and your beloved live together in HIM.
Hugs,
Dianna
God has to fill me up. I would be disappointed everyday if I put all my hope on my man. You are right. It isn't fair. He wasn't meant to carry that burden. Only God is!
Camille, Thanks so much for sharing this. I'm a single lady still, but this has application to me, too. I was crying to my dad the other day about how "lonely" I felt...wishing I had a husband and a family to love on...It's been one of the desires of my heart for a very LONG time...I don't think about that all the t ime, but once in awhile, when things are quiet...sometimes my thoughts drift that way...but ultimately, real, complete satisfaction is only found in Jesus Christ :) :) He is my everything :) :) :) Well, I could go on,...but you said it much better than I did :) :) Thank you for the encouragement today :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
Dear Michelle ~ I agree with you...Ann's writing is beautiful, isn't it? She's often had me teary too. Oh that the LORD would help us all to look to HIM to fulfill our every need...it relieves our husbands of needless pressure. :)
Dear Jennifer ~ LOL! You really do make me chuckle. :)
Dear Carrie ~ Oh yes...age! LOL! Why is it that we cannot enter life with the sage wisdom that comes later? :)
Dear Jill ~ Thank you! Many blessings to you too! :)
Dear Rhonda ~ You are an encourager...thank you! Waving and smiling back across the miles to you my friend! :)
Dear Dianna ~ Oh how true it is! Many struggles could have been averted...but, isn't it through those times that we learn?? What a blessing that the LORD patiently teaches us all throughout our lives. :)
Dear Stacie ~ How precious the LORD is!! May HE help us each to look to HIM to be our all in all...such liberty in that! :)
Dear Heather in Oregon ~ You are right...this truth applies to us all! Married or single, the LORD must be first and the ONE we look to for all our fulfillment. Many blessings! :)
May the LORD bless you each one!
In His Love,
Camille
So true and so lovely. What a relief that I don't have to be his everything, nor my childrens'.
Blessings!
Dear Shayne ~ Oh the freedom in it!! May the LORD bless you...it's lovely that you stopped by. :)
Many blessings,
Camille
Truth, Truth!!!
Dear Jackie ~ Isn't it wonderful?? :)

Dear Dominique ~ Oh how we all need to be *put in check*...how gracious our LORD is to do that for us as often as is necessary! Welcome here...thank you for your visit...it's lovely to *meet* you. :)
Many blessings,
Camille
Hopped over from Ann's ...thank you for this. As a single girl Im constantly attempting to guard my heart from movies and books that teach that husband would be my everything.
Dear Mari ~ Welcome...thanks for stopping by! Oh how true it is...the media would tell us that the LORD cannot be our EVERYTHING...but how often are *they* right? May the LORD help you to look to HIM for all your satisfaction in life and you will be the happier for it. :)
Many blessings,
Camille
