How often have I thought of myself
more highly than I ought to?
How often have I put myself above others?
How often have I thought that
what I had to say was of utmost importance,
and even would interrupt to get my words out?
Too often.
How often have I died to self?
How often have I let others go ahead of me?
How often have I sat in silence
to let others speak?
Not often enough.
Oh that I would truly
have the posture of a Christian
in all of the above.
Practical Christianity.
"For I say,
through the grace given unto me,
to every man that is among you,
not to think of himself more highly
than he ought to think;
but to think soberly,
according as God hath dealt to every
man the measure of faith."
~ Romans 12:3 ~
"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;
but in lowliness of mind let each
esteem other better than themselves.
Look not every man on his own things,
but every man also on the things of others."
~ Philippians 2:3-4 ~
Oh to walk humbly with my God.
How wonderful it is that we can draw
strength from our precious LORD
and are not called to walk this path
without HIS help and grace!
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand
of the throne of God."
~ Hebrews 12:2 ~
May the LORD bless you each
this weekend, kind friends,
as you seek to follow HIM
with all your heart!
And remember, when we fail,
HE is there to pick us up and
give us a fresh beginning!
All because of what
the LORD Jesus Christ
has accomplished for HIS people.
"If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
~ I John 1:9 ~
What a glorious thought!
Many Blessings,
Camille

Hmmm... that pride. It's a sneaky little thing, isn't it? You can appear so "good" on the outside and be filled with self-righteousness on the inside. It's definitely something that restrains our growth if we don't bring it before the Lord for forgiveness. I love how you point that out but also show us how through Scripture. I deal with this daily!
Yes, it IS a glorious thought that I can be cleansed! :)
What a lovely post Camille! So very true, makes us take a step back and think. :-)
Thanks for your kind words on my blog. Have a great weekend!!!
Blessings,
Jill

Another wonderful and encouraging post! I love Philippians 2:3-4. Michael and I memorized those verse when we took premarital counseling. Now as we counsel we encourage the couples to memorize those verses to include verse 5.
