I love it when my kids play together nicely (which implies that this isn't always the case)! This wooden railway set has been "in the family" for quite some time now...the boys were "gifted" it in bits and pieces over the years...mostly from Grandpa...thanks Dad! It's a "keeper" kind of play set similar to Lego and it all fits into one big bin which can be hidden away in a closet between uses...perfect! :)
Loved the story...when my son was 3 we bought him a very small "Thomas the Tank Engine" set. He played with it for 3 hours straight. We were amazed. Over the years the set grew to include bridges and more trains. He still has his set...says he's keeping it for his kids... and when ever we have little kids over he always takes down his set and builds the track and plays with the little ones. It's the sweetest thing ever to watch. :)
J ~ I agree...it is very rewarding when they play nicely together and create their own fun. Truly...these are blessings from the Lord! And we must remember these times when the challenging ones are upon us! :)
Mavis ~ I love the story of your son...it really is timeless stuff! I'm glad he sees the value in keeping it for his kids! AND that he shares it with little visitors to your home. :)
I told my children that our set will stay here so we can use it whenever we have little ones over to play. And one day, I hope that will include grandchildren...but I do expect that to be awhile! :)

That's so fun! And how neat that it's something that has been handed down.
Not too long ago my little ones built a "track" connecting their bedrooms...oh the hours spent building!
There is nothing like seeing them play together nicely! (and as you implied, mine don't always do that either!) :)
