I randomly read something on a blog I'd never been to.
What the blog author had written was shocking. Frightening, actually.
The writer of that post professes to be a Christian and to believe the Bible.
Yet, she flew in its face and tore apart its meaning to serve her own purposes.
She embraces what the Lord abhors.
And, she blatantly declares that we've misinterpreted His Words
for all these years (thousands) and proclaims that now the true light has come.
We cannot cherry-pick and choose the parts we like and leave the rest.
Or, reinterpret the things we find within its pages that don't appeal to us.
It's not godly or forward thinking or progressive at all.
It's not godly or forward thinking or progressive at all.
It's downright scary.
"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
Isaiah 5:20
"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
Isaiah 5:20
It's frightening to think that some who call themselves Christians embrace the idea that
we can dictate to God what we know He meant. Even if it's contrary to all He says.
we can dictate to God what we know He meant. Even if it's contrary to all He says.
Scary to consider that this line of thought is even encouraged in some Christian circles.
Sobering to think that more people don't see it as scary.
But, it is. And, we must be careful what we embrace.
God's Word is not to be tampered with.
We don't pick and choose. We follow. Wherever He leads.
And, we obey. We repent. We turn. We look to Him for the next step.
We must do things His way. Or, we cannot call ourselves His.
It really is as simple as that. His Word shapes us.
We don't shape it.
"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you
an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called to day;
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin."
Hebrews 3:12-13

It's not all up to us at all. It's all up to Him. How wonderful!
We are called to surrender. Called to submit.
These are truly liberating things. Freeing things.
And, through it all, we learn more of
Who our Great God really is.
And, through it all, we learn more of
Who our Great God really is.
It's only then that can we see who we really are.
And, where we fit into His great plan.
And, where we fit into His great plan.
We must hold fast to the Truth. No matter what.
It's the only way forward. Absolutely the only way.
"Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me,
and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me,
when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
And I will be found of you, saith the Lord..."
Jeremiah 29:12-14a

This is really scary!
Amen!!
Calvin is a great photographer and I love seeing his work.
We must have both been experiencing similar things, Camille. That is why I recently wrote about the Truth I.V. I can get things wrong sometimes too but I know that when we're in God's Word, it's much more difficult to be so far off base. Hopefully, a kind soul will come along and gently lead this woman to the truth. I know I personally would appreciate that, if I were writing things even a little misconstrued. Mentorship is so important, if it is received well.
The Bible also says to "Love thy Neighbor."
Maybe a better way to show love is to kindly counsel someone you see not living the truth, not run blog about it. That doesn't help the person you are condemning at all. Insulting people behind their back does not solve issues.
It is indeed scary days that we live in. It is so difficult to see, hear, read… all the things that are going on in this world. I pray continually for our families, and the Church as a whole, that He will hold us close to His heart, His truth, His love, His Spirit, His correction and His grace, His Word. The whole earth is being shaken it seems, and we need all these things more than ever. Have a blessed week Camille.
Hugs,
Pam
It concerns me too, Camille...so many people who claim to be Christians believe in lifestyle that is not Godly and yet profess it to be ok. We need to be reminded from time to time to check our beliefs against the Word of God...this blogger didn't do that, sadly.
Angela ~ Truly. I am so thankful that the Lord has made so much so abundantly clear in His Word for His people. How blessed we are! Hugs to you! :)
Leanna ~ Thank you for amen-ing this my friend. Hugs! :)
Heather ~ Thank you for your kind words to Calvin. He so enjoys photography. :) As for the mentoring and exhorting that ought to be going on in Christian circles, I agree...may the Lord give us all grace to be teachable and ready to be used as He sees fit. Hugs to you! :)
Anonymous ~ Thank you for weighing in on the discussion here. I appreciate your exhortation to "love my neighbour". As was mentioned in this post, I do not know who this blogger is, in fact, I could not return to the page where I read what I read even if I wanted to. This post sat in my drafts for about two months before I hit publish, so, it wasn't something I rushed into posting. I agree that addressing people is the best way to go. However, the topic of discussion was not something that is quickly addressed or easily resolved unless the person is seeking or open to the Truth. The blog author was very strong in voicing her opinion and made no apologies for standing where she stood. It was truly frightening. Perhaps someone close to her will gently admonish her and point her to God's Word to expose the error she is embracing. May it be so...by God's great grace and in His mercy. Thank you again for stopping by. Blessings to you! :)
Dear Pam ~ Thank you for your kind words of encouragement my friend. How true it is that we are all so desperate for God's Word and His guidance in our lives. How much we need Him! Hugs to you. :)
Julia ~ Isn't it a wonderful thing to know that we can know the Truth? How gracious and good our Great God is to us as His children! We don't need to be in the dark about what He thinks on the issues of today. It's so clearly laid out in His Word which is readily available to us all. Hugs. :)
With Love,
Camille
Amen!!
Maryann ~ Thank you, sweet friend. Hugs! Camille
