O sacred Head, now wounded,
With grief and shame weighed down;
Now scornfully surrounded
With thorns, Thine only crown;
O sacred Head, what glory,
What bliss 'til now was Thine;
Yet though despised and gory,
I joy to call Thee mine!
What Thou, my Lord, hast suffered
Was all for sinners' gain;
'Twas mine the dread transgression,
But Thine the deadly pain.
Lo, here I fall, my Saviour,
'Tis I deserve Thy place;
Oh, look on me with favour;
Vouchsafe to me Thy grace.
Be near when I am dying,
Oh, show Thy cross to me;
And for my succor flying,
Come, Lord, to set me free:
These eyes new faith receiving.
From Thee shall not remove,
For he who dies believing
Dies safely through Thy love.
What language shall I borrow
To thank Thee, dearest Friend,
For this Thy dying sorrow,
Thy pity without end?
Oh, make me Thine forever;
And should I fainting be,
Lord, let me never, never
Outlive my love to Thee.

Dear Camille,
This hymn has been on my heart and mind for the past few days! Praise God for His indescribable Gift. Thanks for sharing and making me smile :)
Love,
Sharon
Camille, one of my very favorite Easter hymns. Such pretty pictures you chose as well! Hope you are having a blessed week, preparing for Resurrection Sunday!

Oh how I love the old hymns - these writers spoke from the depths of the soul - who knew Jesus from the depths of their heart.
I have to tell you again Camille - that I play your playlist of music all day now and the Lord has used it to speak into my soul and my heart. I play it in the background when I enter the inside Prayer Room here at Shepherd's Walk each morning. God even used 'The Gift' on my birthday today! He speaks to me in the music He has chosen through you.
Thank you for hearing His voice in the choosing of these melodies.
May His favor be upon you this day.
